3/6/10 Mesa LTD Class
“Social Services Day”

The March class started with a continental breakfast served in one of Red Mountain Multigenerational Center’s conference room.

The day’s theme, Social Services Day, educates the class on Mesa’s many outstanding non-profit agencies in regards to what they do, who they serve and how volunteers can get involved.   The organizations present were only a sample of the abundant good works provided by Mesa’s numerous non-profit agencies.

Interesting presentations were given by the following people and class members participated in very interesting question and answer discussions with these speakers.

  • Dan Wollam – Vice President Mesa United Way
  • Tim Lidster – Community Outreach Director, Save the Family
  • Mike Hughes – CEO, A New Leaf
  • Leah Palmer – Assistant Director of Partnership Development MCC
    Community Learning in Partnership (CLIP)
  • Kay Moore – President & CEO, Marc Center
  • Christine Scarpetti CEO, East Valley Crisis Center
  • Rhonda Oliver – Hands On Greater Phoenix

After lunch, Dana Hawkins provided a comprehensive tour of Red Mountain Multi- Generational Center’s countless features.  Then - group class pictures and individual pictures were taken by Mesa Leadership’s photographer for the Class 2010 Directory that will be distributed at the May class graduation.

Again – Mesa LTD provided an outstanding educational experience for the attendees and the class members, in turn, expanded their knowledge about Mesa and also had some fun.
